Ever since I was a little kid in Houston, Texas, I can't remember any part of my life that didn't have movies in it. I consider movies to have a certain magic to it, a magic that can't be found anywhere else. I love how the movies can allow a person to escape into a world that isn't their own and take the same journey with everyone else in the audience. Movies are ingrained into our culture and our consciousness and can, in a way I suppose, bring people together from all over the world. I love that if one can imagine something, anything, then it can be brought to life for everyone to see. It's my goal to create something similiar, create a certain magic that people might enjoy and have fun watching.

     I love every genre of movie, but it's the action movie that is my favorite. I love the chases, explosions, gunfights and fistfights that are cornerstones of the genre. As much fun as it is to watch, it's also a blast to film as well. While every action movie has these exciting elements, I've found the best action movies to be the ones that have interesting and complex characters to drive the story, rather than the story driving the characters. I consider this movie to be an action movie of characters driving story. Blowback represents the culmination of my film education I have recieved while at USC. I've tried to make something different from most student films at USC, but I've also tried to create an action movie that's familiar, while at the same time telling a story that hasn't been told from quite from this perspective. This is an action movie in the same vein of the action films I grew up on, those that are just fun and exciting to watch. It's my hope that the audience simply enjoys themselves while watching this movie. If that happens, I’ll know I've accomplished what I've set out to do.
